Our communities would be completely different without trees and the essential benefits they provide. These include vital environmental, economic, and social benefits that we cannot live without, including shade, improved water quality, carbon capture, and creating aesthetically pleasing environments, among a whole range of other benefits.
Simply put, healthy community forests help support healthy communities by creating more walkable neighborhoods, improving our health, improving our moods, and reducing physical and mental stress. In addition, community forests are essential to the history and character of New Mexico. To illustrate this, the four renderings below show iconic locations around the state as they would appear without trees. The stark contrast between these environments, clearly shows that none of our historic communities would be the same if it were not for their trees.
